Hindle Funeral Home
We believe in serving people in a fashion that we wish to be treated. At Hindle’s, “We wouldn’t have it any other way, and neither should you.”
April of 2006 marked the 40th anniversary of Hindle Funeral Home, Inc. in Dansville. The business originally established at the present location at 271 Main St. as Baird Funeral Service in 1946 by Theodore E. Baird of Wayland, has roots further back in time to about 1937 when Tony Mark and Effie Grover established a funeral home at 253 Main St. Later this business became the former Grover -Wood Funeral Home operated by the late Effie Grover and Ivan Wood. After Mr. Wood's death, Mrs. Grover continued to operate the business selling her interest to Mr. Baird in 1954 when she retired.
Walter E. (Gene) Baird purchased the Baird Funeral Service from his brother Ted in 1966. Mr. Hindle eventually entered partnership with Gene, which then became the Baird-Hindle Funeral Home. Mr. Hindle later purchased his partner's interest eventually changing the name to Hindle Funeral Home.
Ed and Jo Ann operated the funeral home until their son Carl and his wife Lisa Hindle assumed ownership upon their retirement on December 31,1995.
